In major drug bust, Hyd police arrest four in possession of cocaine, MDMA and heroin
In a major drug bust, four persons were arrested in Hyderabad on Monday after they were found to be in possession of heroin, cocaine and Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).
The accused who were nabbed in a joint operation by the Madhapur Special Operations Team (SOT) and Sanathnagar police, were identified as Mohammad Aftab alias Sahil alias Pappu, Imam Ali Qureshi alias Saleem, Mohammad Shamim Alam and Mehadi Ali Khan.
The police said that three of the accused were from West Bengal, while Mehadi Ali Khan lived in the city's Saidabad area.
Speaking to reporters, the police said that Aftab was involved in procuring drugs from a dockyard in Mumbai and supplying them to dance bars in the city. When he sought to expand his operations and sell the drugs to potential customers in Hyderabad, he came in contact with Khan.
"Aftab, his assistant Shamim and Ali Qureshi planned to sell drugs in Hyderabad. They started supplying various drugs to Rafath Mehdi Ali Khan, an event manager in the city. On Sunday, when the trio came down to the city to hand over the drugs to Mehdi, they were caught by the police teams,” Balanagar ACP Govardhan told reporters.
The police said that they recovered several sachets, each with 1 gram of banned narcotic substances. In total, 13 sachets of cocaine, nine sachets of MDMA and eight sachets of heroin were seized.
The gang used to sell 1 gram of MDMA for Rs 2000 to Rs 5000 while heroin and cocaine would be sold at Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500 per gram, the police added.
In February this year, the Hyderabad police arrested a 19-year-old BBA student from the city, along with a Nigerian national and a Goa-based businessman for selling LSD via Snapchat.
The Task Force police of the Central Zone made the arrests, and seized 75 stamps of LSD blots besides three packets of ganja, 30 grams of charas and one gram of heroin.
Speaking to reporters, the police said that the accused would update his status on SnapChat and notify his friends and followers about the drugs that he had.
