Superstar Mahesh Babu on Monday revealed that he will be adopting Siddhapuram village in Telangana as part of the initiative to give back to the society, inspired from the reel story of his latest Telugu blockbuster "Srimanthudu".

"After much thought @KTRTRS garu and myself have chosen to adopt Siddhapuram village of Kottur mandal in Mahabubnagar district (sic)," Mahesh posted on his Twitter page.

It was at the behest of Telangana Minister for Panchayatraj, Rural Development and Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao that Mahesh Babu decided to adopt a village.

The IT Minister had earlier suggested that Mahesh adopt one of the most backward villages in Mahbubnagar district.

In "Srimanthudu", Mahesh Babu played the heir of a multi-millionaire, who adopts his family's village and sets out on a journey to transform it. Released on 7 August, it has become the second all-time highest grossing movie after SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali - the Beginning".

Mahesh had earlier announced that he would adopt one village in Andhra and one in Telangana. Following this, he adopted his father's native Burripalem village in Guntur district.
