Chiyaan Vikram’s next film in the pipeline will be the historical Mahavir Karna. The director of this film, RS Vimal is currently busy with the groundwork but received a rude shock recently when he heard that some fraudsters were luring in aspiring actors by offering them roles in this magnum opus for exorbitant rates.

The director has now filed a police complaint and sent a letter to the Kerala Chief Minister cell, which took cognizance and launched an inquiry. Interestingly, the role of Kanchanamala, the love interest of the lead actor is the most wanted role and it was offered to several aspiring actors.

On this, RS Vimal has said in an interview, “I was shocked to realize that in my name, there were scammers who were luring aspiring artists promising them roles in my film Mahavir Karna. A group of people had made fake Chennai and Mumbai addresses, letterheads and even a fake production company under my name as RS Vimal Films. As soon as I knew about this, I had alerted about this on my Facebook page and I started getting complaints from many people. From the number of complaints I received, I realize that the group must have earned lakhs of rupees!”

Mahavir Karna is touted to be trilingual to be made in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi on a budget of Rs 300 crores. The film will be bankrolled by the New York-based production house United Film Kingdom.

Reports are that this film will have an ensemble of stars in the cast from different film industries in India and abroad. According to sources in the know, Malayalam star Suresh Gopi has been roped in to play an important role in Mahavir Karna. In fact, the star was present at the inaugural pooja of the film at the Shri Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Kerala.
