Three out of five exit polls for the Madhya Pradesh 2018 Assembly Elections have predicted a victory for the Indian National Congress and a rout for incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
In the 230-seat Assembly, the magic number is 116. India Today-My Axis poll has predicted a slight win for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh with around 104-122 seats and the BJP has been predicted to win around 102-120 parties. The poll has predicted around 1-3 seats for BSP and around 3-8 seats for other parties.
The Times Now-CNX poll has predicted a BJP win in Madhya Pradesh with 126 seats and a vote share of 42.5% vote share. The poll has predicted 89 seats for the Congress. The BSP is predicted to win 6 seats with a 7.95% vote share and 9 seats have been predicted for other parties in the state.
The exit polls by C-Voter have predicted a win for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh with around 110 to 126 seats. The BJP is predicted to win around 90 to 106 seats and other parties are likely to win 6 to 22 seats, the poll adds.
The Jan Ki Baat poll has predicted a BJP win in Madhya Pradesh with around 118 seats and Congress is predicted to win around 105 seats. Other parties are likely to win 7 seats in Madhya Pradesh, the poll adds.
The iTV-Neta exit poll predicted that the Congress may win around 112 constituencies and has predicted 106 seats for the BJP in the state. Other parties, including the BSP and Independent candidates, are predicted to win around 12 seats.
In the last polls, of the 230 seats, the BJP had won 165 seats, Congress had won 58 seats, BSP four and Independents had won three.
Among the 2,907 candidates in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP fielded candidates in all 230 seats, while the Congress is contesting in 229 seats leaving one seat, Jatara in Tikamgarh district, for Sharad Yadav-led Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD). The BSP has fielded 227 candidates and the SP is contesting in 51 seats. There are 1,102 Independent candidates.
Over five crore registered voters in Madhya Pradesh -- 2,63,01,300 men, 2,41,30,390 women and 1,389 of the third gender -- will decide the fate of candidates.
