Kannada star Diganth is playing the lead role in the Charlie remake, which was a very big hit in Mollywood. On the remake, Diganth is reported to have said that several changes have been made to his character that was played by Dulqur Salmaan in the original.

The actor added that changes to the script have also been made. Speaking about the film to the Times of India, Diganth said, “We are currently shooting in Chikkamagaluru and will soon head to Mangaluru, before returning to Bengaluru. The original is a brilliant script and I loved it. It is one of the very well-made films I have seen lately and Dulquer Salmaan has done a fabulous job in the original. Despite having loved the original, I will bring in what I can offer to our version, rather than just aping Dulquer.”

Charlie, starring Dulqur Salmaan, turned out to be one of the biggest hits in the star’s career. Jointly written by Martin Prakkat and Unni R, the film was directed by the former. Released on Christmas Eve in the year 2015, the film went on to bag awards eight awards at the 46th Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

Gopi Sundar had composed tunes for the romantic entertainer with Jomon T. John handling the cinematography. Charlie was produced by Shebin Becker, Joju George and Martin Prakkat under the banner Finding Cinema. Starring in the movie along with Dulqur Salmaan and Parvathy are Aparna Gopinath, Nedumudi Venu and Soubin Shahir.

With the makers of the Kannada version Utsav bringing in some changes, the Sandalwood audiences can expect a fresh romantic entertainer.

Diganth’s last outing was Chowka which hit the silver screens in February and he has a couple of other projects apart from Utsav.
