Simbu’s latest release Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan hit the marquee amidst a lot of expectations but unfortunately turned out to be a box office dud.

Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film did not get the response as anticipated by the filmmakers. Meanwhile, with the filmmakers having shot 40% of the sequel, plans are on to release it later this year.

According to sources close to the star, he is keen on reviving his ‘star’ status in the film industry by coming up with a super hit.

It is said that Simbu is keen on reviving his shelved project Kettavan and will be doing so soon.

Kettavan, a 2007 project, was put in cold storage as the actor did not want to create a bad boy image for himself on the silver screens back then.

However, he is looking forward to revive the film right now and is supposedly in talks to get it back on to the floors.

Reports suggest that Simbu’s father and noted filmmaker-actor T Rajendar has the prints of Kettavan and has been maintaining it well, so that there would be no need to shoot those sequences again.

Those who had worked with Simbu in the shelved film say that his performance in it will certainly have his fans happy and the film is sure to become a huge hit.

Incidentally, Simbu is the director of the film and he is expected to don the director’s robes again.

The film has Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the tunes. With Simbu in charge of the direction and screenplay, the film has Namitha play his love-interest while Santhanam is the main comedian.

If the news about Simbu planning to revive Kettavan turns out to be true, his fans can expect a hit, say sources that are well aware of the storyline and Simbu’s character in it.
