Kannur witnessed the highest voter turnout with 78.16 per cent while Ponnani recorded the lowest at 68.31.

Kerala has witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 73.06% till 6 PM. The polling percentage is expected to go up as many voters were still waiting to cast their vote past 6 pm and the Election Commission had guaranteed that anyone entering the booth premises before 6pm would be allowed to vote.

The elections for the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state have been completed in a single phase on Tuesday.

Kannur in northern Kerala witnessed the highest turn out with 78.16 per cent till 6pm, followed by Wayanad at 76.21 per cent, Chalakkudy 75.97 per cent and Alappuzha 75.2 per cent.

Wayanad is the second seat from where Congress President Rahul Gandhi is contesting from, the first being Amethi.

Palakkad and Alathur constituencies in Palakkad district and Kasargod witnessed above 74 per cent of voting- 74.12 per cent, 74.69 per cent and 74.5 per cent respectively.

Kottayam, Idukki and Thrissur constituencies have recorded voter turnout above 73 per cent- 73.08, 73.5 and 73.29 per cent respectively. Three constituencies – Vadakara and Kozhikode constituencies in Kozhikode district and Ernakulam registered voting of above 72 per cent- 72.98, 72.45 and 72.02 per cent respectively. Above 71 per cent voting has been registered in Malappuram (71.04), Mavelikkara (71.08), Pathanamthitta (71.39), Attingal (71.8) and Kollam (71.1) respectively.

Thiruvananthapuram which has witnessed a fierce fight registered 70.86 per cent of voting.

The lowest voting has been recorded in Ponnani -68.31 per cent.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections the total voting registered in the state was 73.94 per cent and corresponding figure for the Assembly elections of 2014 was 77.10.
