In a report to be presented at the party's 21st congress starting Tuesday, CPM has admitted that it doesn’t have leaders who actively take up the issues of the proletariat. If the behavior of the comrades is anything to go by, the party seems to be having a tough time disciplining them. They are now involved in real estate, stock market or money lending and the party’s actions to discipline them have only worsened the situation, states a report by Manorama. #CPIM 21st Party Congress: Leaders of fraternal Left parties participate at the inaugural session. pic.twitter.com/PJBd43pbS7 — CPI (M) (@cpimspeak) April 14, 2015 The national protests of the CPM are not gaining success. The signature campaign for food security, conducted in 2012, failed in several states. While the target was set at 5 crore signatures, they could garner only 15 lakh signatures. The vote base of the party is declining in all the states, except in Tripura. Even last month, after the politburo and central committee meeting the party had admitted that their central leadership had failed to expand the party among the masses. The report says that only 6.5% of their members are less than 25 years. And unlike the other parties they have failed to use social media to its advantage. The only alternative to the neo-liberal, corrupt and communal order is the Left and democratic alternative, says Prakash Karat #CPIM — CPI (M) (@cpimspeak) April 14, 2015 The report shows that the CPM unit in Kerala is ahead in terms of raising funds and in membership. The state has contributed towards relief measures for flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir and riot victims in Muzaffarnagar. In the last three years, 34,692 new members have joined the Kerala CPM unit. Tweet Follow @thenewsminute
