The significant thing about the newly launched LG X Venture smartphone is that it has passed 14 MIL-STD 810G tests, meant to certify phones for rugged and rough use. The specifications would appear a little mixed going by the norms set by the market leaders.

The LG X Venture has a 5.2-inch full HD display (screen resolution: 1920x1080p) and a very decent pixel density of 423ppi. The OS is the Android Nougat 7.0. However, the processor is where LG appears to have missed the bus. The phone has an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435. The RAM is also low at 2GB. The internal memory is 32GB but the microSD card slot enables the user to take it up to a whopping 2TB. The phone’s dimensions are 154x75.8x9.29mm and weight, 166.5gms.

The battery on the LG X Venture, on the other hand, is quite powerful at 4100mAh and LG claims that the phone can last a whole of 24 hours and it is also backed by Quick Charger 2.0 facility which can recharge the battery to 50% of its power in just around 45 minutes. The ruggedness factor might be the reason for providing this powerful battery, particularly if you are out in rough terrains without a charging port.

With regard to the camera, the new LG phone has a 16MP rear camera with flash while the front selfie camera is a 5MP sensor with a 120-degree wide angle lens.  The connectivity and sensors provisions are adequate and cover all situations.

Another feature with the new LG X Venture phone is that it comes with the IP68 Certification for resistance to dust and water.

Other specifications worth being highlighted are the three physical buttons on the front screen and the quick launch button on the side. Again, LG has anticipated that the user could be wearing gloves in the outdoors and will need these buttons to make the operations easier. There is a provision to program the side button and set it to Glove Mode as well. Going one step further with the same theme, LG has provided a special ‘Outdoor Essentials’ app. This will include things one would usually need in such situations like a barometer, compass, activity counter, exercise tracker, the weather reporter and a flashlight. The phone has been released in two color variants, brown and black.

The LG X Venture phone is being made available in many parts of North America and Latin America and some countries in Europe and other parts of the world as well from May 26. The exact date of its launch in the Indian market is yet to be revealed.

On the price front also, the phone is being sold at a very reasonable price of $260 (approximately Rs 17, 000).
