If you’re looking to buy a pocket-friendly 4G smartphone, there is a new player in the market now. Lenovo’s Moto C has been launched in the country with 4G connectivity and Android 7 priced at just Rs 5, 999.

The Moto C comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display and the resolution offered in 854x480. It may not score much points here, except that the 5-inch real estate is good enough. The processor would be the MediaTek MT6580M processor and the RAM is 1GB. Again, these are credentials of an entry level phone only. The internal storage memory is being released in two versions, 8GB and 16GB. The device launched in India may be only the 16GB variant.

It is understood that the phone’s universal specifications indicate it is a 3G phone, while for the Indian market, the 4G VoLTE connectivity has also been additionally incorporated. There would be two slots for SIM one of which can accommodate a microSD card as an alternate.

The Moto C has dimensions that read 145.5 x 73.6 mm x 9 mm and its weight is 154gms. The battery fitted is 2350mAH, may be just sufficient for the 1GB RAM and the quad core processor. But as mentioned, while many flagship phones are still releasing with Android M, Lenovo has gone ahead and provided this entry level offering with the latest Android Nougat version 7.0. The phone is being released in two colors, pearl white and starry black.

A 5MP camera adorns the rear and a 2MP sensor in the front for selfies. The phone has Bluetooth connectivity and a micro USB port.

With the price of the Moto C fixed at Rs 5, 999 and the phone being made physically available for purchase from retail outlets in 100+ cities across the country, the company is really hoping that a large number of feature phone users may opt for this new smartphone and they can reap rich dividends through this device in the market.

The coming days may reveal how far Lenovo is proved right in its calculations.
