The Left Democratic Front (LDF) of Kerala, following a meeting of their leadership at the AKG centre in Thiruvananthapuram, has decided to organise a statewide stir against the policies of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for sidelining the interests of the state.

The decision for a statewide protest was taken by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday.

Protest marches to various central government offices and to the Raj Bhavan — the official residence of the Governor of Kerala, have been planned and similar protest marches will be taken out across districts of the state.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, A Vijayaraghavan, the LDF convenor has been quoted as saying, “The policies adopted by the Government are not helpful to Kerala in any manner. There was nothing significant for the state in the union budget as well.”

He went on to add that the policies of the Central Government will also stall development of the state. The LDF convenor also said that the state of Kerala will be deeply affected by the privatisation of Public Sector Units including airports, referring to the privatisation of Thiruvananthapuram international airport.

One of the major criticisms that the LDF government has raised against the Centre time and again was denying the state an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This was also raised in the state leadership meeting on Wednesday.

A Vijayaraghavan, as per the DC report alleged that the Congress is only bothered about criticising Pinarayi Vijayan, whereas it takes a softer stand when it comes to the Centre’s anti-Kerala policies.

Meanwhile, it was also decided in the meeting that the state leadership will start reviewing the performance of the Pinarayi government from August onwards.

As per a report by The New Indian Express, they will begin by examining the report card presented by the chief minister to the LDF state leadership, followed by reports by the various ministers.
