The News Minute| December 7, 2014| 3.10 pm IST The Kiss protestors who had gathered in Kozhikode to conduct the second edition of Kiss of Love Protest named “Kiss in the street” were arrested and removed by the police.  The protests were planned in different venues on Sunday. The protest was likely to start at 3 pm in the Moffusil bus stand but police arrested the protestors. Though after criticism of how Kochi police had handled the issue, Kozhikode police had initially agreed that Kiss of Love can go on in Kozhikode.  But with large number of people, mostly spectators gathering, police asked people not to gather near the bus stand venue. But even as police made arrests, bigger crowds started gathering at the bus stand. Many social activists had already extended their support to the kiss protest in Kozhikode. ‘Panmai,’ a transgender theatre group from Chennai, has also joined the movement with a play ‘Colour of Trans.’ Student Federation of India and Youth Congress had also expressed their support for the event. “In Kochi, police arrested kiss protestors who tried to protest in peace. Though they first allowed us to march to marine drive and conduct the event, later they arrested us. So this time we were careful” says one of the organizers. “We had two undeclared venues as we are careful this time. Mode of operation is same as Kochi. We informed our participants prior about the secret venues” says Rahul Pasupalan, organizer of kiss protests in Kerala An organisation called the Hanuman Sena had pasted posters, threatening that those who are taking part in the kissing protest will be stripped in public. These protestors too appeared at the Mofussil bus stand and were also arrested before the protest started.
