The much awaited Nitya Menen and Sudeep starrer Kotibgobba 2 released on Friday with celebrations from fans.

The bilingual film has been simultaneously made in Tamil as Mudinja Ivana Pudi. The Kannada film is being distributed by Jack Manju of Mysore Talkies.

Here’s some fun facts about the film:

Film director Ravi Kumar says, Kotigobba 2 has nothing to do with the 2000 film starring Sahasa Simha, which was a remake of Basha. This is his first Kannada film, and he’s already been in the film industry for about 25 years.

Fans have gone all out to decorate Bengaluru’s Santhosh theatre, which is the main theatre of the film’s release.

One fan even said he was probably going to watch three shows of the film

Mudinja Ivana Pudi is Sudeep’s Tamil debut. He has acted in Telugu films in the past, but this is first Tamil film. He told The Times of India that he was thrilled that more than the film being bilingual, he was happy that the film originated in Kannada film and was being made into Tamil.

The New Indian Express had reported that the Akhila Karanataka Kiccha Sudeepa Sena Samithi had planned celebrations worth Rs 7 lakh, of which Rs 2 lakh was earmarked for flowers to line the road leading up to the theatre.

The film’s trailer, published on YouTube on July 24, had been viewed 3.37 lakh times, while the teaser, uploaded on July 1 was viewed 3.76 lakh times.
