A 58-year-old Kerala woman was found murdered at her own house on Thursday. Alice, a Thrissur native was found in a pool of blood on Thursday at her house in Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district.

According to Irinjalakuda police, Alice had been living alone at house for two years. She was found with a cut on her throat, police said.

A probe led by Irinjalakuda Circle Inspector PR Bejoy has been started in the case.

“Alice’s body was discovered by a woman living next door by around 6.30 pm on Thursday. The murder must have happened in the morning,” investigation officer told TNM.

The woman had been living alone since the death of her husband, Paulson, two years ago. “Her three daughters are married, and live at other places in Kerala. Her son is settled in the United States. After the death of her husband two years ago, she had been living alone. At night, a woman from nearby place used to come to give her company. It was she who discovered Alice’s body on Thursday,” police said.

As per reports, the woman neighbour who came to check on Alice in the evening found that the main door of the house was closed, but not locked. When she went inside, she found Alice lying in a pool of blood in the hall.

The investigation officers suspect that the murder could have be part of a theft attempt as some of the gold jewellery Alice used to wear was found to be missing. “Alice wore eight gold bangles, and all of them are missing. But the gold chain which she wore was there,” police said.

On Friday morning, the dog squad and forensic experts visited the crime spot and collected evidence.
