A Kerala MLA has lodged a complaint against a fellow co-party worker for allegedly attempting to invade her privacy and abusing her at a wedding on Saturday.

Peerumedu MLA ES Biji Mol was at a wedding reception, in Elappara in Idukki district, where a CPI worker, NK Valsalan, the allegedly attempted to videotape her while she was eating and when she went to the washroom. He also taunted her over her reduced votes in the recent election. Unable to bear his taunts, she reportedly chased him.

The MLA alleged that the accused abused her when she asked him not to photograph her. He mocked her over the reduction in the number of votes in the constituency and even scared her saying the food she was having could have been poisoned.

"He tried to take my pictures, invading my privacy. When I objected he abused me," said Biji. When she confronted him, Valsalan ran away.

Denying allegations that she assaulted Valsalan, she said, "I reacted after repeated requests to stop taking video. He also tried to capture me going to toilet.”

Meanwhile Valsalan, who claims to have been a party worker for 35 years denied all allegations, said Biji Mol was angered while discussing the reason of her reduced majority in the election.

She was angry and one of her relative chased and assaulted him, he claimed.
