Kerala power minister MM Mani landed himself in trouble on social media after he tweeted out a picture of solar plant in Korea for Banasura Sagar reservoir in Wayanad.

The minister posted a picture of a floating solar power plant in South Korea on his Twitter profile on Thursday, saying, “India’s largest floating solar plant located in Banasura Sagar reservoir in Wayanad, Kerala, is all set to start operations,” reports Manorama.

Social media was quick to point out the mistake and Minister was trolled over the photo blooper.

The minister was forced to take down the picture and came up with an explanation that a representational image used earlier, reports Manorama.

The minister’s twitter account had used the photo from the website of LG CNS South Korean solar plant.

A reverse Google image search showed the photograph is of a plant in Otae and Jipyeong Reservoirs in Sangju City of Gyeongsang Bukdo Province of South Korea, reports Indian Express.

The floating solar plant project in Wayanad is part of Kerala government’s plan to generate electricity using renewable energy. According to the minister, the plant that will be operated by the state electricity board will generate 7.5 lakh units of power annually. The government also claims that it is the ‘largest’ floating solar project in the country and built within one year. It is likely to be inaugurated by November 1 on the state’s formation day, reports Indian Express.
