A case has been filed against a man in Kerala for allegedly raping a popular Malayalam TV serial actor. The 61-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Kerala police and added in her complaint that pictures of the act had also been circulated by the accused.
The complaint was filed with the Kayamkulam police on Thursday, April 11. According to reports, the woman has stated that the accused, who is in his 30s, had entered her house and raped her.
“A case has been registered under IPC section 376 (punishment for rape) and under the IT Act. The accused has been identified as Siya. Based on our investigation, he is not in the country at the moment,” an officer at the Kayamkulam police station told TNM.
According to the woman's complaint, the incident took place in October 2018. According to reports, the accused, Siya, befriended her on one of the sites of a shoot. She states that the accused had entered her house in Kayamkulam and later a hotel in Thottappally where she was staying and raped her.
Further details about the accused are yet to be known. According to reports, the accused Siya had left the country 12 days ago.
The woman also stated that the accused lied to her about his whereabouts and where he was from, stating initially that he was from Malappuram and later changing it to Ernakulam.
The pictures of the act were reportedly shared by the accused on WhatsApp. The complaint also alleges that the accused had circulated the images to her husband and friends.
This is the second incident in Kerala involving sexual assault of an actor. In February 2017, the actor abduction and assault case, where a Malayalam film actor was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a gang in a moving car, had sent shockwaves across the state. Actor Dileep has been named as accused number 8 in the case for masterminding the abduction and attack.
