The police security officer of a Kerala High Court judge, who snatched money from a duo by threatening them at the Kochi Marine Drive has been suspended by city police commissioner.

The police officer, TA Ansari, posing as shadow police, took Rs 5000 from them threatening that he will charge case against them for immoral activity in public place.

Police have registered an FIR against Ansari and he has been absconding since then.

On December 10 when the victims were at Marine drive, Ansari approached them and said that he was in charge for booking those involved in immoral activities ever since the Kiss of Love campaign, and then sought a bribe to settle the case. When the man took the purse the police officer snatched it and fled from the plot.

The Times of India reports that filed a complaint against the civil police officer with Ernakulam Central police on December 12, based on which a suspension order was issued.

“The policeman had given a missed call to the woman's mobile phone to check her number. This helped us in identifying the offender,” the senior officer told ToI.
