The war of words between the CPI (M) and BJP has sharpened a day before BJP's Janaraksha Yatra is set to begin in Kerala. Kerala BJP general secretary K Surendran on Monday said that the CPI (M) govt in the state is supporting terrorism and jhadis.

While speaking at a press meet in Payyannur, Kannur, he said it’s not something new that love jihad exists in the state and it’s a reality that the government should accept.

Payyannur is the place where BJP's Janaraksha Yatra will be inaugurated by BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Surendran added that In some places, there is no difference in the way the Democratic Youth Federation of India (youth wing of CPI) and Social Democratic Party of India (political wing of Popular Front of India) are functioning.

“The Janaraksha Yatra has created panic among the CPI (M) leaders since they are afraid that it would expose the fact that the state government is an utter failure,” he said.

The CPI (M) if of the view that no other political party but the CPI-M should exist, Surendran alleged.

“Throughout India, CPI (M) is being exposed. If anyone criticises the CM, why do they portray it as a criticism against the state,” he reasoned.

Responding to Surendran’s statements, P Jeyarajan, CPI (M) District secretary, Kannur, told TNM, 'While the rest of the world sees ISIS as a danger, in India, we look at the RSS as a Hindu Jihadi movement. They create private armed forces like gau rakshaks to attack people. In the last 50 years, 65 comrades have been killed in Kannur and 214 in the whole of Kerala.”

When reminded about the killing of RSS members as well in the state, Jeyarajan said, “That is resistance. It is bound to happen. Why should Amit Shah come here? Kerala has some of the best social indices. Ask him to go to UP where children are dying without any oxygen. They are trying to make inroads in the state but we will not let them succeed.”
