A senior civil police official has been suspended after he sneaked into the labour room of a hospital in Idukki disguised as a burqa-clad woman. He was caught in the high-security area after a visitor present in the labour room of the Al-Ashar Medial College in Thodupuzha grew suspicious of the cop after looking at his build and the way he was walking. An alarm was raised immediately and security was informed.
The civil police official, who has been identified as Noor Sameer (42), was caught by the security but managed to flee the scene in the scuffle that followed. However, as he was trying to get away, the veil flew off his face and bystanders were able to identify him as a cop. The police were called immediately but Sameer had gotten away till then. The police are not sure why Sameer, attached to Kulamavu police station, tried to enter the labour room.
Hospital officials have submitted a complaint against the cop to Thodupuzha police station and a case was registered against him. Noor Sameer has been suspended.
Thodupuha sub-inspector VC Vishunukumar said, "The cop not yet surrendered at the police station. We registered a case against the senior civil police official under Sections 419 (impersonation) and 354(c) (voyeurism) of the IPC.”
Noor Sameer, who has reportedly been a history-sheeter in the past, has been arrested previously for receiving money from a person accused in a narcotics case.
In January 2017, the cop and two of his friends pretended to be special squad members of the chief minister and blackmailed the accused and took money from him. He was caught and suspended then as well.
After serving his suspension, Sameer came back to serve as a civil police officer only recently. After this incident, Idukki SP KB Venugopal sought a report and Sameer has been suspended again.
