A man from Kodungallur in Thrissur was forcefully made to eat his own words on Monday night, when a few BJP workers forcibly shaved off half his moustache for losing an electoral bet.

46-year old Kannan who works as a chef in a city-based catering group had to unfortunately part with half his moustache, all because he had earlier been pretty vociferous about how he would shave off half of it, in the event of BJP winning even a single seat in the last state Assembly Elections.

With BJP veteran O Rajagopal winning the Nemom seat in Thiruvananthapuram for the saffron party, it was only a matter of time for Kannan to actually execute his boast, so his detractors thought.

And when Kannan showed no signs of following it up even after seven months, BJP workers decided to take matters into their own hands, and did the job for him.

Speaking to The News Minute, an officer from the Kodungallur police station says: “We have registered a case. The complainant has provided some clues about who the culprits are. We will look into the matter, and make arrests, if the allegations are found to be true.”

According to the police, even if Kannan had made such a promise, it is indeed a crime to force it upon him without his consent.
