Months after speaking about the abduction and alleged sexual assault of a woman actor from the Malayalam film industry at a public event, the speech has come back to haunt an MLA from Kerala.

On Tuesday, a complaint was filed with the Malappuram district police chief against Thalassery CPI (M) MLA AN Shamseer, for naming the woman actor and making derogatory comments about her.

In a written complaint submitted to the district police chief on September 12, Riyas Mukkoli, President of Malappuram Parliament Committee of the Indian Youth Congress, has accused MLA AN Shamseer of violating the law by naming the woman survivor repeatedly.

According to the complaint, MLA Shamseer named the woman actor while addressing the audience after inaugurating a DYFI convention in Malappuram on July 23.

"Not only did the MLA speak about the case, actor Dileep who is an accused and name the woman actor, but he also said that the woman actor would accept money to settle the case," the complaint reads.

Riyas has urged the police to take legal action against the MLA considering the grave offence he has allegedly committed by naming the woman survivor.

Speaking to TNM, Riyas said that he has also attached a video clip from the event, which has relevant portions of the MLA committing the offence.

In a 27-second video clip from the inaugural address in July, MLA Shamseer can be heard taking the woman actor's name repeatedly.

Praising the LDF government in Kerala for conducting an impartial investigation into the case and booking a prominent actor Dileep in the case, MLA Shamseer said:

"Imagine if this was the Oommen Chandy government. He would have invited the woman actor, negotiated with her to settle for a compromise and would have promised to get her Rs 10 crore from Dileep. Then he would have called on Dileep, told him that he would save him in return for Rs 50 crore, and hand over Rs 10 crore to the woman actor and settle the case."

Ever since the assault in February, several persons including actor Aju Varghese, MLA PC George and several others have been booked for naming the woman actor.
