Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday clarified that he has never claimed to have built Hyderabad, but only took credit for developing Cyberabad. His statement comes on the back of repeated criticism from rival and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Addressing a gathering at Dharma Porata Dheeksha in Vizianagaram, Naidu said that he never claimed credit for building Hyderabad. “I can proudly say I constructed Cyberabad. I toiled hard to create Cyberabad. I went around the countries with the resolve of Visakha Steel. I brought Microsoft, several other IT companies, International School of Business, Raheja Mindspace to Cyberabad. I was instrumental in building international airport in Hyderabad,” the New Indian Express quoted him saying.

Reacting to the criticisms levelled by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, Naidu said, “KCR is abusing me without a reason. He says there is no need for TDP in Telangana. You (KCR) are a product of TDP. Without NTR, there is no KCR,” he said.

Naidu further went to add that it was he who developed Telangana. “If there is any person who has worked hard for the development of Telangana, it’s me.” He stated that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are better in the education sector because of him.

Responding to KCR’s question on why the TDP is contesting from Telangana, even after state bifurcation Naidu said that he would answer that question in his election campaign.

Both Congress President Rahul Gandhi and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu who are part of People’s Front would be campaigning in Telangana together.

On Wednesday, Rahul and Naidu will be addressing a gathering at Khammam, Ameerpet and Asif Nagar in Hyderabad.

Ever since the grand coalition to oust the TRS was formed, KCR has been alleging that it is an unholy alliance. At the public meeting in Kalwakurthy on Tuesday, KCR alleged that Naidu worked against the interests of Telangana by hindering irrigation projects.
