Karnataka Health Minister KR Ramesh Kumar was admitted to the government Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital on Friday for diarrhoea.

“He passed stools around 10-15 times on Saturday and things have been brought under control. He is recovering,” said Dr KS Manjunath, Medical Superintendent of the hospital. He dismissed reports which said that the minister had food poisoning or viral fever.

Doctors believe that the reason for his illness was due to the food he consumed at the winter session of the assembly in Belagavi. It could be something he ate there or on his way to Bengaluru, Dr Manjunath said.

Meanwhile, former MP and actor Ramya is being treated for a high fever at Mallya Hospital, The Times of India reported. She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening.

“Her temperature was very high which is being brought under control. There are no alarming reports regarding her health and she is expected to be discharged soon,” hospital sources told TOI.

The minister has been vocal about government officials and politicians going to government hospitals for treatment to set an example.
