Late actor Kalpana’s daughter Sreesankhya is all set to follow the footsteps of her mother and aunts. Yes, bitten by the acting bug, she has decided to take the plunge. While her aunt and award winning actor Urvashi had said much earlier that the youngster is interested in acting and would soon be seen on the silver screens, Sreesankhya pointed out that it would happen only after she completes her school education. In an interview to ManoramaOnline last year, Sreesankhya had told that she would go on to study before donning the greasepaint.

And the news now is that Sreesankhya has bagged an offer to play the female lead in the Malayalam movie Kunjiyammayum Anchumakkalum. The film is written and directed by Sumesh Lal and has a bevy of stars in the cast including Kalabhavan Shajon, Tini Tom, Sreejith Ravi, Binu Pappu, Irshad and Pashanam Shaji. Bankrolled by Abdul Rasheed on the banner ABRA Movies, the shooting of Kunjiyammayum Anchumakkalum is scheduled to commence in January next year.

Sreesankhya hails from a family that has provided the cinema industry with three talented actors – Kalaranjani, Kalpana and Urvashi.

Kalpana was an accomplished actor who was predominantly seen in character and comedy roles. She had won numerous awards including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress – for the film Thanichalla Njan in 2013, Asianet Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress - for the film Charlie (Posthumously awarded) in 2016, Henko Flowers Indian Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress - for the film Charlie (Posthumously awarded) in 2016 and the North American Film Award for Best Supporting Actress - for the film Charlie (Posthumously awarded) in 2016.

Kalpana passed away on January 25, 2016, following a massive heart attack in Hyderabad. She was in the city for the shooting of the film Oopiri / Thozha.
