As the day of polling closes in on Tamil Nadu, spoofs and memes targeting rival parties are running amok on social media, riding on a viral wave. One of the trends among these spoofs is to pick up movie dialogues and tweak them to poke fun at the rival party.

Here are some spoofs that have surfaced on the internet.

Kabali trailer

The most recent spoof on the block is this parody of the widely-acclaimed Rajinikanth starrer ‘Kabali’ trailer. Tweaked by a DMK fanatic to match the party’s campaign, this video has been creating waves on the internet.

Adimai Penn

DMK chief Karunanidhi’s grandson and popular actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin shared a video that was tweeted to him by a DMK fan, on Twitter on Tuesday morning, poking fun at Jayalalithaa. The video shows a clip from the yesteryear film ‘Adimai Penn’, where Jayalalithaa explains the significance of the ‘rising sun’ to a mute MGR. Incidentally, the DMK’s party symbol is the ‘rising sun’; thus, Udhayanidhi’s tweet quoted ‘Amma has said so herself’.

Aarya

Ridiculing the heat wave that allegedly killed people who attended AIADMK public meetings held under the scorching sun, another DMK fan released a video featuring Vadivelu from the movie ‘Aarya’. The clip shows Vadivelu addressing a meeting, where people are fainting continuously, due to a mosquito repellent.

Manathai Thirudivittai

Mocking Jaylalithaa’s schemes and promises, another video tweaked from the ‘Manathai Thirudivittai’ cropped up on the internet, featuring Vadivelu and Vivek. In the video, Vadivelu spins lies in order to please his love interest, as a heartbroken Vivek watches on.
