Having made a smashing comeback with 36 Vayadhinile couple of years ago, Jyothika currently awaits the release of another women-centric film, Magalir Mattum, which also stars Bhanupriya, Urvashi and Saranya Ponvannan. After struggling to find a suitable date for release, the film might finally hit the screens on August 11, thanks to the postponement of Ajith's Vivegam to August 24. While the makers are yet to make an official announcement, industry insiders have said the makers are seriously considering the date.

Directed by National award-winning filmmaker Bramma, the film, according to its director, will explore one of the many rarely spoken women-centric subjects. It has also been revealed that Jyothika will dub in her own voice.

In the film, she plays a documentary filmmaker who will address a very serious problem. Jyothika was seen riding a Royal Enfield bike in the film's second poster which caught the attention of the audience. The director has revealed that Jyothika will be seen riding the bike in a few scenes in the film, and added that he didn’t make her ride a bike because it’s cool but he wanted to break the myth that there are some things women can’t do.

Produced by Suriya, the film has music by Ghibran. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Suriya might have played a cameo in the film.
