The News Minute| March 24, 2015| 2.00 pm IST In what is seen as a verdict that will affect every single person using the internet in India, the Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down the draconian Section 66A of the Information Technology Act 2000. A bench of Justice J Chelameswar and Justice Rohinton F Nariman called liberty of thought and expression as "cardinal". The bench said, "The public's right to know is directly affected by section 66A of the Information Technology Act." The strongly worded judgement also said that, "it is clear that Section 66A arbitrarily, excessively and disproportionately invades the right of free speech".
