Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that “recruiting agencies” of international terror groups were functional in Kerala and cautioned the people not to take this lightly.

Taking a dig at the previous UDF government, the CM said this occurred as “such groups” found the state to be the right place for them.

Vijayan made this statement at a function in Ernakulam in the wake of a FIR being registered against a Kochi school on charges of creating communal disharmony.

An FIR was registered against Peace International School, Kochi for promoting enmity among different groups on the basis of religion after a report was filed by District Education Office.

“The words in the textbooks have been so intelligently phrased that one gets an idea about the Islamic orthodoxy they preach only if one reads at least 50 to 60 of their books back-to-back. For instance, one of the textbooks meant for II Standard asks how many students would be ready to submit themselves for Islam,” a top officer of the Kerala Police told The Hindu.

According to reports, a textbook in question asked students if they were willing to give their life for Islam, and how non-Muslims should be treated.

Even the six among the 21 missing Kerala youth suspected to have fled to Syria worked for the same school.

PTI on Sunday quoted anonymous officials saying, “We suspect that this school’s curriculum has been drafted with persons close to controversial preacher Zakir Naik, of Mumbai based Islamic International School.”
