Who says romance is dead? To impress his girlfriend, Mitesh Jadva an Indian-origin man in the UK pulled off an elaborate proposal for his wife-to-be around the popular US television sitcom.

His girlfriend, Anisha Patel, is a huge fan of the show ‘Friends’ and can quote dialogues from some of its episodes.

After a romantic dinner at the Shard, London's tallest building, to mark the couple's fifth dating anniversary, Jadva took his girlfriend to a park nearby where she found a candlelit sofa identical to that featured in the 'Friends' opening credits and five singers serenading her with the theme tune 'I'll be there for you' by The Rembrandts.

His act which came straight out of the television act to take his girlfriend by surprise did grab headlines in the media too. Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and several other British media covered the incident.

"The journey to the park in the cab was when the nerves really started to kick in. Luckily we picked the only day that week it didn't rain so we were just counting on the sun to go down on time," he told the 'Daily Mirror'.

Inevitably, Patel was in tears even before he went down on one knee and accepted his proposal.

The couple, from Kingsbury, North West London now plans to have a traditional Indian wedding but hope to include some 'Friends' themed details into the decorations at their reception ceremony.
