If you would like to own a car in Shimla, well, you need to prove that you have a parking spot in mind. The Himachal Pradesh High Court, in an order on Friday has ordered that no vehicle in Shimla would be registered unless the owner produces a certificate from the collector.According to a report in The Times of India, the aforementioned certificate shall be issued following a report submitted by the SHO of the concerned area. The report by the SHO also entails a physical inspection and a verification process. The article mentions that close to 80,000 vehicles ply on Shimla’s roads while the city only has parking space for close to 1000. Tourist vehicles which come to the city during the peak season only add to the commotion. The HC observed that most of the buildings had been put to commercial use and vehicles ended up being stationed on the streets without paying for the same.“Therefore, it becomes imperative that the bylaws be suitably amended by making it mandatory for all the buildings connected by road to have parking space for at least one vehicle, without encroaching upon public property,” the court said.Read more at: Prove you have parking space before buying a car
