Chief Minister drew the attention of poll officials after he reportedly did not show his identity proof while casting vote at Siddaramanahundi in Mysuru district.According to a report in Deccan Herald, when asked to produce his identity card, the chief minister reportedly said, “I’m my own identification”, which drew laughter from those present.Since the law mandates a voter to produce proof of identity at the time of casting vote, he told the woman official that he hailed from the same village and his name was already listed in the voter’s list. The official then checked the list to verify his identity and allowed him to vote. Nearly 70 to 80 percent of the voters excercised their franchise on Friday during the first phase of gram panchayat elections, reported The Times of India.  According to State Election Commissioner PN Sreenivasachari, “The turnout is quite good compared to previous times," he said.
