In a shocking incident, a married woman and mother of a 4-year-old, was killed, allegedly by her own father and family members for marrying against their wish. Police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Yellenka Vijayalakshmi alias Vijaya was also reportedly four months pregnant. According to the police, Vijayalakshmi had married Suresh, a neighbour, against her parents’ wishes.

The incident took place on Friday, in Abdullapurmet in the city's Rachakonda Commissionerate limits, in the vicinity of Hyderabad. Suresh is reportedly a distant relative. After their wedding in 2014, the couple left the village and stayed away due to fear.

Speaking to TNM, Inspector (Station House Officer) Muni said, "They got married four years back and had come home a few days ago." The couple had come to Suresh's house as his mother had passed away. This is when Vijaya's parents who were angry with her for marrying against their wishes, allegedly hatched a plot to kill her.

Speaking to local media, a shocked Suresh said, "While her (Vijaya) mother talked her into coming out of the house, her father Narsimha, along with her two brothers and four uncles pinned her down and hacked her to death."

The incident has triggered panic in the village and as word spread, the locals informed the police. Inspector Muni said, "Her father Narsimha and other family members seem to be involved in the crime.” Police are however yet to ascertain if Narsimha acted alone in killing his daughter or if other family members were also involved in the actual crime.

Following the incident, all of them are absconding. “None of them have been arrested and special teams are looking for them," the inspector said.

A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered and investigations are underway.
