Huawei P10’s successor P20 gets trademarked, expected to sport 8GB RAM, 4000mAh battery

Huawei P20 may be launched by the end of 2017.

Huawei’s last phone in the P series was the Huawei P 10. Now if the leaks and speculations are to be believed, the company is all set to launch the successor the Huawei P 20. The details of the phone have been extracted from the trademarking agency’s website and most of the information obtained should be made official when the announcement is made by Huawei.

The phone does appear to have some decent specs and impressive features. Here are some of the details:

The Huawei P 20 will be shipped with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD Display with a resolution of 1440x2560 with a density of 515ppi which is quite superior by any standards. A Corning Gorilla Glass protection is accorded to the display screen.

The phone will come with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and this can be taken to 256GB through a microSD card. The current indications are that the Huawei P 20 will be fitted with an octa-core processor, which will be the in-house Kirin 960. But there is every possibility that the next version Kirin 970 would be ready by the time the phone is likely to be launched and Huawei may prefer to fix that. The likely speed will be upwards of 2.4GHz which will match with the other specs outlined here.

Almost on similar lines, it is being rumored that the new phone will come with the Android Nougat Version 7, but if the Android O is ready by then there is no reason why the phone will not be loaded with the latest OS at the time of its launch.

The battery is also being projected to be of 4000mAh with the quick charger feature.

The main rear camera will be 16MP in size and the front camera 8MP. All support features like auto flash, face detection and HDR recording will be available on the phone.

All connectivity features, including 4G will also be provided in the Huawei P 20.

Considering the fact that the actual announcement followed by the launch of the phone will take place only towards the end of 2017, it will be interesting to watch how the Huawei P 20 performs in the market place, since by then some of the major smartphone makers would have released their flagships.

Huawei might be looking to give a fight at home to Xiaomi and in this case, the Huawei P 20 may take on the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus and even the OnePlus 5, which is already out.

It has been indicated that the phone will be released in two colors, gold and black. However, no other information such as the price and the markets chosen for the initial launch are in the public domain as yet. It cannot therefore the said for certain if the Huawei P 20 would be brought to India or not.
