Huawei has brought to the Indian market its latest high-end smartphone, Huawei Mate Pro 20, priced in the Rs 70,000 range with a 6.39inch QHD+ display that has a screen resolution of 1440x3120pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

It comes with a curved OLED display with DCI-P3 HDR support. The back panel is made of glass indicating it is ready for wireless charging and the surface is described as having a ‘Hyper Optical Pattern’ texture that is expected to provide a better grip. The phone’s dimensions are 157.8mmx72.3mmx8.6mm and its weight 189gms.

Huawei has fitted its Kirin processor, the octa core Kirin 980, which is built on 7nm with a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). A Mali-G76 MP10 GPU offers support for graphics. The Huawei Mate Pro 20 will be available in 2 RAM options, 6GB and 8GB. The internal storage will also be offered in 2 levels 128GB and 256GB with a hybrid slot for a microSD card that can add another 256GB of storage on board. The memory card that can be used with this phone is Huawei’s proprietary Nano memory card.

There will be a 4200mAh battery under the hood to keep the phone running for a longer duration. The phone comes with the fast charging facility and Huawei claims 30 minutes of charging can take the battery to 70% charge from 0. It also supports wireless charging.

The camera section takes the cake with a triple sensor setup in the rear and the combination is of one mighty 40MP unit with a 20MP ultrawide angle lens and an 8MP telephoto lens. Some of the features and supports available to the user of this phone in getting the perfect photos and videos include LED flash, Super HDR, AI Portrait Shot, AI Cinema Mode and AI video editor.

The front camera for taking selfies is 24MP that doubles as the 3D Facial unlocking sensor. In addition, the company claims it has included the ‘world’s first reverse charging’ feature in this Mate 20 Pro smartphone.

As you can expect with such high-end specs, the phone has the full suite of connectivity options and sensors on board, including an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The phone comes with the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

Finally, the pricing; the Huawei Mate Pro 20 with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will be sold in India for Rs 69,990. There are some very attractive launch-time offers both from Huawei as well as from some of the carries in India. Sales begin on December 3 for Amazon Prime members and the next day for other Amazon customers. It will be an Amazon exclusive smartphone. Offline, you can buy through Croma stores beginning December 10. Huawei has limited the smartphone in the Indian market to just 2 colours, Emerald Green and Twilight.
