After almost a month of its launch in China, Huawei’ sub-brand Honor has launched its flagship Honor 8X in the Indian market. The phone was officially unveiled in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The key specifications of this new phone include a 6.5-inch full HD+ display. The screen resolution is 1080x2340pixels and has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. With minimal bezels, the display is said to be occupying 91% of the area on the screen with a notch at the top to accommodate the front camera.

Huawei has stuck to its own octa core processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 710SoC. There are 2 RAM variants, 4GB and 6GB and the internal storage is 64GB for the 4GB RAM Honor 8X and 64GB or 128GB for the 6GB RAM device. There is a 3-tray provision for the 2 nana SIMs and a dedicated slot for the microSD card that can take the storage up to 400GB.

The OS is the Android Oreo with the in-house EMUI 8.2.0 skin and the battery is 3750mAh. The whole range of connectivity options and sensors on board give the new Honor 8X the recognition it deserves, to be considered by the buyer for a mid-segment phone.

The camera section has a dual sensor combination in the rear sporting a 20MP primary and a 2MP secondary sensor. The front camera for selfies is 16 megapixels.

Some of the special features Huawei has packed into this new phone include an AI based function where when the rear camera is focused on an object, it can click an image and send it to the search mode to find where it can be purchased and its price etc. Moving photos, AI Super Super-Slow-motion modes, and multi-scene recognition are other features the phone comes with. There is the face unlock as well as a fingerprint scanner in the rear panel.

Another USP being touted by the manufacturer is that the Honor 8X has been loaded with the GPU Turbo Technology, a Huawei proprietary technology that is aimed at speeding up the phone’s performance by 60% and at the same time saving on the battery usage by 30%. These will come quite handy for those who spend a lot of time playing games on the mobile.

The price at which the different versions of the new Huawei Honor 8X will be sold in India are, Rs 14,999 for the 4GB/64GB phone, Rs 16,999 for the 6GB/64GB Honor 8X and finally Rs 18,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant.
