Debut actor Darshan is all excited over the role he had landed in. He will be seen playing Duniya Vijay’s brother in his upcoming film Kanaka. Speaking about his role, the newbie is reported to have said that he plays a village youth leader.

A doctor by profession and a medical postgraduate student, Darshan had reportedly said in an interview to The Times of India that he met director R Chandru who is known for his mass movie making at a wedding and told him about his interest in acting. Eventually, he sent a video of his acing to the director and got selected for the role. Darshan pointed out that Anil Kumar, who died during the Maasthi Gudi shooting, was initially roped in to play the role of Vijay’s brother but his untimely death forced the director to look out for a replacement and that’s how he bagged the role.

Darshan had to undergo rigorous workouts to get into perfect shape for the film. The actor said that though he had a good physique, he trained hard at the gym to gain around 7 kilos of physical mass, which was required for the role.

Kanaka stars Duniya Vijay in the lead role with Hari Priya and Manvitha Harish as the leading ladies. The star cast also includes P Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila, Rangayana Raghu, Achyuth Kumar, Srinivasa Murthy, Sudha Belawadi, Yuga Chandru and Padmaja Rao. Naveen Sajju is composing the tunes for this flick with Satya Hegde handling the camera and Harish editing it. R Chandru is not only helming the film as its director but is also producing it under his banner RC Movies. The film is slated to hit the silver screens on December 1 and will be distributed by Sri Siddeshwara Enterprises.
