Telangana and Andhra Pradesh continued to reel under the heat wave which claimed another 30 lives on Sunday. Intense heat wave conditions prevailed in the entire state of Telangana and large parts of Andhra Pradesh. While 25 have people died in Telangana, five died in Andhra.According to reports, the heat wave has already claimed 432 lives in the two states.Telangana Revenue Secretary B.R. Meena said that as per the reports received till Friday, 186 people died in Telangana alone. This was the first official statement on the toll.Disaster management department officials in Andhra Pradesh said the heat wave claimed 85 lives in the state but some reports suggest that the real figure could be as large as 246.The highest temperature of 46 degree Celsius was recorded at Khammam, Nalgonda and Ramagundam in Telangana. The temperature in Hanamkonda and Nizamabad was 45 degrees Celsius.In Andhra Pradesh, the south coastal Andhra region continued to bear the brunt of the severe heat wave. The highest temperature of 47 degrees was recorded at Machilipatnam and Vijayawada.The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre warned that the heat wave will continue for two more days. It attributed the heat wave conditions to the dry winds blowing from the north-west.The meteorologists and the health department have advised people to take all precautions to protect themselves from a sun stroke. People have been asked to remain indoors and if necessary, venture out but only with the required protection.Streets in the towns wore a near deserted look as people remained indoors to escape the scorching sun.
