‘And Nothing Else’ is the unique name of a startup that is the food business and offers healthy packaged food. The startup has received funding from Matrix Partners as part of its early round funding. There were others who participated in this round: Sauce.vc and a few angel investors including Shashwat Sharma (CMO, Airtel), Jaydeep Burman (Founder, Rebel Foods) and Ankush Gera (Founder, Junglee Games).

The concept developed by ‘And Nothing Else’ is that food must be 100% trustworthy, meaning there’s absolutely no risk taken as far as the ingredients in the food are concerned. If you buy one of their packaged food products, you will find all the ingredients listed clearly in the front of the pack itself and not tucked away in small letters and numbers in a corner in the back. The USP of the products made and sold by ‘And Nothing Else’ is they have no added sugar, artificial sweetener, preservative, or flavouring and colouring agent.

Shashank Mehta, an ex-Unilever marketer is the founder of ‘and nothing else’ (ANE). The way the name has come about is, they say their products are made of just a few simple, homely ingredients and nothing else.

The company says the funds now raised will be wholly spent by it on strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and to build the manpower needed to achieve its goals as a team. ANE would be making all its product inhouse and not contract it out. Having raised the pitch in terms of offering 100% clean label packaged food, the kind of people And Nothing Else is planning to recruit are expected to be as passionate about clean food as the promoter is.

The founder Shashank Mehta says, “It all started with a simple question for us – What is healthy food? Is it ‘no sugar added’, or ‘low carb’ or ‘high in good fats’? Or is it ‘keto’ or ‘paleo’ or ‘vegan’? We found that good food is made of good ingredients. And nothing else (ANE)”.
