The Madras High Court ordered issue of notices to various officials asking them to file a counter within two weeks on an appeal filed by the father of a DSP Vishnupriya, a woman police official who allegedly committed suicide in September last year.

The counters are to be filed against the order of a single judge rejecting a CBI probe into the death of his daughter.

Ravi also sought a direction to restrain the CB-CID in Erode from proceeding further with the investigation into the death of Vishnupriya, former DSP of Tiruchengode.

Vishnupriya was found dead under mysterious circumstances on September 18, 2015.

Alleging that his daughter s death was a case of murder, Ravi had earlier moved a writ petition seeking a CBI probe, and the government had ordered a CB-CID probe into the matter.

Ravi contended that the single judge had failed to consider the fact that the investigating officer of CB-CID is also in the cadre of DSP and he cannot effectively conduct the probe.
