Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday constituted a three-member committee, headed by deputy CM N China Rajappa, to look into allegations made against state Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu.

This came a day after Guntur Zilla Parishad chairperson Shaik Johny Moon in Guntur on Friday told reporters that her family was facing a threat from the minister, while adding that her own life was allegedly under threat.

Alleging that the minister had deployed goons to kill her husband and resorted to attacks on her bungalow, she also claimed that Kishore Babu had stepped up the attack after she approached senior party leaders.

Following the allegations, the Opposition came down hard on the ruling party.

“If a woman hailing from the minority community and belonging to the ruling party, besides holding a certain position, feels so unsafe, what would be the condition of ordinary women in the State?” YSRCP leader Roja asked.

She also brought up the alleged harassment case against the minister's son, for which he was arrested in Hyderabad in March this year,

Directing the committee to find out what was going on between the two leaders, Naidu was also reported to have called party state president K Kala Venkata Rao, to make it clear that this kind of indiscipline would not be tolerated.

Naidu, in a press release, also stated that both the Minister and the ZP chief were new entrants into the party and got the opportunity to take up high posts, because of which they were also expected to behave in a manner that did not harm the party interests.
