Google launched Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL this year with the aim of being present in different price points in the smartphone hierarchy. But now, there are reports of some issues with both these phones. Reddit has had a number of users posting complaints that their phones are automatically switching off. Every time, the user has to restart the phone by pressing the power button for a fairly long duration of up to 30 seconds.

Some users who are quite informed have tried in their own ways to address the issue by starting the phone in Safe Mode etc. But they say that has not solved the problem. Some have concluded it is a hardware related issue.

Interestingly, there are others on the same Reddit platform, who claim they found a temporary solution by keeping the Wi-Fi off in their Google Pixel 3a devices and this shutdown issue goes off completely. One solution apparently advocated by Google was to perform a factory reset and the problem disappeared. A number of people have opted for a replacement under warranty.

Google has had some issues with its earlier models of smartphones as well. The tech giant however overcame them. Possibly this issue might blow over too. The company has not given any official reaction to this shutting down issue so far. It has been seen that the companies wait till they see a sizeable number of complaints before reacting. In addition, they put the devices to test in their own labs before accepting the issue as genuine. These do take time. In the case of Google these phones are third-party manufactured. The maker of the devices will also have to be brought into the picture if it is a hardware issue.
