The News Minute | November 24, 2014 | 03:55 pm IST Google India on Monday announced the launch of its Online Shopping Festival from December 10 to 12, according to a report in India Today. The shopping festival was first organized by Google in 2012 in collaboration with Indian e-commerce websites and this will be their second instalment of the same. According to the NDTV report, the Shopping Festival will offer products with discounts from over 200 partners, e-commerce websites, classified companies, online travel sites, auto companies, fashion labels, telecom companies, health and well-being companies and even banking and finance companies. According to the official page, the Online Shopping Festival will also witness a prelude to the festival in the form of a pre-party which is to happen on 25th November. The initiative was initially launched by Google in an attempt to push online shopping in India. That was two years ago and it is safe to say that India has jumped on the bandwagon of online shoppers with a wide array of e-commerce websites launching big day-sales. The NDTV report also quoted Rajan Anandan, VP & Managing Director of Google saying, "Great Online Shopping Festival is India's version of Cyber Monday in the west and is an exciting platform to raise awareness and consumer adoption of online shopping in India. With over 200 million Internet users in the country, more and more Internet users are opting to shop online and fuelling the growth of both large multinational and homegrown companies."
