If you are a fan of strategy game and particularly fond of Starcraft, this latest announcement by its creators Blizzard Entertainment should sound like music to your ears. The real time strategy game in its 2 versions, Starcraft and Starcraft: Blood War are being reworked and merged into one and titled Starcraft: Remastered and when it is released for gamesters to try their hand at it this summer, the game is expected to have a plethora of features to make the gameplay exciting.
4K HD Display
The major improvement is in the display and Blizzard has revealed that the game will be available in full definition HD or what it terms 4K Ultra High Definition. In a report by The Verge, Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s CEO and co-founder says, “With StarCraft: Remastered, we’re modernising the original game’s visuals, audio, and online support, to ensure that players can enjoy StarCraft for another 20 years and beyond.”
Starcraft: Remastered will be priced suitably, which is yet to be announced and the users of both Windows and iOS will be able to pick the version to play on their respective devices. In another announcement, the company has also revealed that a couple of earlier versions of the game, like StarCraft Anthology (including StarCraft and Brood War) will henceforth be made free for download. It will still be a game for PC and if you are hoping to play it on your iPad, you may have to wait till Blizzard comes out with the version.
For those who might not have played the game, it is a real time strategy themed challenge where you can play as a single player or choose the multi-player option as well. There are primarily 3 races, of which the terrains are the common thread across the versions while the Protoss or the Zergs can also be found. The battlefield and the battle ready units with the armours and other paraphernalia required to fight through the game are also available. The roles of the units are pre-specified and the races as mentioned above will have access to specific units while in battle. You choose the race and become its commander and you have to fight your way to victory. The gameplay involves using your workers to build more structures and keep adding the units so that your army becomes strong enough to destroy the other races and claim the game.
The basic theme as described above has been maintained across the different versions and the newly launched Starcraft: Remastered will also feature the same theme but with minor and nuanced variations.
So, if you are a Starcraft fan, wait with bated breath for the all new game and be ready to pay and download and enjoy the game all its HD graphics and improved display.
