Dismissing allegations against the police for delay in nabbing the culprits in connection with the brutal murder of Jisha, 30-year-old law student in Perumbavoor, DGP TP Senkumar said that the police must be given time to solve the case.

Speaking to The NewsMinute, Senkumar said, “The police is already juggling between special election duties and other duties, the same officers are expected to be do everything. These protests and allegations against the police would not help in solving the case, but instead disrupt the proper conduct of the probe.”

The law student was allegedly sexually assaulted and brutally killed last Thursday and the incident has sparked off massive protests in the state. DYFI activists marched to the DySP’s office, demanding urgent police action and were lathicharged by the police. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who visited the victim’s mother at Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital on Wednesday was also at the receiving end of outrage by the public.

A post on the unofficial ‘TP Senkumar IPS Fans’ page, defending the police and criticizing the ongoing protests, went viral on Tuesday. The post blamed neighbors who allegedly turned a blind eye towards other people’s troubles.

“It would be stupid to assume police inaction just because the media took time to realize the magnitude of the crime. The protesters alleging that the police is doing a shoddy business and carry out marches to the police station does not realize that such cases warrant a detailed scientific enquiry”, the post reads.

The post also says that the investigation is on the right track and that the protestors must focus their energy on cultivating helping mentality in the people instead of disrupting the probe by carrying out marches.

TNM spoke to the victim's mother and sister. Read: http://www.thenewsminute.com/article/ward-no-5-jishas-heartbroken-mother-still-unable-accept-her-daughters-tragic-end-42623
