A 4-year-old girl died on Saturday in Hyderabad, after a wall of an under-construction house collapsed on her at Kukatpally.

The victim has been identified as Pulikanti Varalakshmi, the daughter of Sailu and Kavitha, a migrant family from Medak district.

It was reported that Varalakshmi and three others were playing outside her house in the morning, when the incident occurred.

"The girl used to live with her parents in a room abutting the accident site. Construction of a house had been taken up near the room. As they were digging to lay foundation, the workers took out mud from the pit and stacked it along a wall, which buckled and collapsed on her," Kukatpally inspector K Purushotham told Times of India.

The TOI report also adds that a stone splinter sliced her throat, and she died on spot. Other reports suggest that suffered serious injuries on her head, neck and other body parts.

The three other children playing with her, managed to escape the accident.

A case has been registered against the house owner John Anthony, a driver in JNTU under section 304A of IPC which deals with causing death due to negligence.

It was reported that the house owner has been digging deep trenches to construct pillars, when the constructed wall was weak and unable to bear the weight of the mud, due to which it collapsed.

"A notice was issued to the owner when he started works a week ago. He stopped it, but started the works again on Saturday.” GHMC Kukatpally divisional commissioner B Ravindra Kumar told Deccan Chronicle.
