Former TDP Telangana working president and floor leader, A Revanth Reddy, who recently quit the party, will be joining the Congress in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday, reported The Hans India.

Confirming the news, AICC Secretary RC Khuntia, who is also Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee affairs-in-charge, visited Hyderabad to meet the Congress leaders, and said that Revanth would indeed be joining the party on Tuesday.

Talking to media, he said, “Revanth Reddy is a respected and dynamic leader and we welcome him to join the Congress.”

“There was no opposition within Congress to his (Revanth’s) joining,” he added.

According to the report, Revanth Reddy is likely to make an announcement on joining Congress, along with his supporters in Hyderabad today, before leaving for Delhi on the same day.

Revanth would be accompanied on his trip to New Delhi by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The former Kodangal MLA met AP Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday in Amaravati and submitted his resignation, ending days of speculation over joining the Congress. He also resigned from the post of MLA.

Revanth was a two-time MLA from Kodangal. He was known for his aggressive leadership who could take on the might of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

In a major worry for the TDP, other TDP leaders who are likely to take the path of Revanth and join Congress include V Nagender Reddy (Warangal), Bhupal Reddy (Nalgonda), Vijayarama Raju (Pedappalli), Boda Janardhan (Cheryala) and Rajaram Yadav (Nizamabad).
