The News Minute | January 17, 2015 | 12.20 pm ISTAn Air India flight heading for Paris via New Delhi was held up after its pilot got it into an altercation with a groundwork engineer at the Chennai airport on Saturday morning. The flight, Air India 143 which was scheduled for departure at 8.40 am was delayed to 9.45 am.However, the flight which contained 122 passengers was further delayed after pilot Manicklal got into an argument with engineer Kannan at the airport. The fracas began when the pilot enquired with the engineer about the reason behind the delay. The engineer had then said that the delay was not their fault. It is alleged that pilot Manicklal then assaulted the engineer which resulted in a face injury. The engineer was then taken to the AAI clinic office for checkup. The pilot was also checked to identify if he was in an inebriated state. The plane then took off flown by another pilot at 11.45 am.According to Times of India, the pilot in question has had a troubled history as he had previously refused to fly a Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram flight last year. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
