They really need some good designers.

Five reasons why Karnatakas politicians need good slogan writers and photoshoppersTwitter / Facebook pages of the respective people

It is a rather pleasant thing to wish people on festival days, and share a spirit of good cheer even with strangers. However, if you are a politician ensuring that you do not miss a single festival, then, in the age of social media, the results can be really garish. If you’re lucky, amusing.

Some politicians have too perfect an image, others try hard to look their best, but like these images show, the effect can just be weird sometimes. These are some of the best (worst) images that we came across.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

For someone known to be a sharp speaker, and who can give tit for tat in a debate in the Assembly, he sure needs a better slogan writer, at least in English. See the first image

Now, read the second.

For those of you who can’t read Kannada, the operative part says that Gandhi is a “daarideepa”, a street light. But in Kannada, the usage is perfectly dignified.

PC Mohan

Maybe he did not want to look bigger than Shiva. But here's something called proportion while arranging the elements in an image. In contrast, the designer seems to have paid great attention to getting all the reflections right - the 'Happy Mahashivratri', the halo around Shiva and the reflection of that halo on the invisible ground.

BS Yeddyurappa

There are two images below. There may not be anyone who wishes people on festival days (and birthdays) as Yeddyurappa does. Yeddy is what Bengalureans call enthu-cutlet (no such word exists in any dictionary, but enthu stands for enthusiastic. No idea where the cutlet came from). He’s probably never missed a single festival, birth anniversary, while most other politicians, regardless of party, slip up from time to time.

His effort warrants a collage of the many festivals he hasn’t forgotten to greet people on.

One for the toned down garish ones,

And one for the all-out garish ones. If you look at the original image of the greetings on Subash Chandra Bose's birthday, it looks as if the pigeon is shitting on Bose's head.

Shobha  Karandlaje

Really, who comes up with stuff like this

DK Shivakumar

The prize however, goes to Energy Minister DK Shivakumar. We’re speechless
