Five held in Hyderabad for preparing fake graduation certificates at OU

On Sunday, police registered a case and arrested all five accused.

Five people, including a city-based advocate and three employees of Osmania University have been arrested for making fake graduation certificates.

The accused have been identified as Saifullah Khaled, who is an advocate and secretary of Darsgah-e-Jihado-Shahadat (DJS), G Santhosh Reddy, who works as a data entry operator at S3 Softechpvt Ltd in Ramnagar and three office attenders at the OU examination branch viz. T Ramesh, C Aravind Kumar, and M Ramu.

M Kumar, controller of examinations in the university on Saturday filed a complaint stating that three EDP section employees have been preparing forged BE transcripts.

“The complainant verified the applications and found that one application (EN021700093) in the name of Sk Abdullah, son of Sk Mahboob Ali (late DJS founder), bearing roll number 0381-176 BE (Civil Engineering), claiming to have passed with first division in June 1985, was not found in the varsity records,” OU inspector V Ashok Reddy told Times of India.

On Sunday, police registered a case and arrested all five accused. Police also seized cash, forged transcripts and photocopies of fake BE degree certificates.

One of the accused, Saifulla's brother Shaik Abdullah, works in Saudi Bin Laden firm as an engineer.

It was reported that Abdullah wanted the fake certificates for his job.

"He was working in that company without any qualification. The company asked him to submit certificates. So, he told his brother Saifulla to get the certificates from OU at any cost," a police officer from OU told Deccan Chronicle.

To get his brother’s certificate, Saifulla contacted the accused, Santhosh Reddy. Santosh, who reportedly took Rs 2 lakh from Saifullah for preparing the certificates, knew the office workers of OU and asked for help.

The TOI report said that Saifullah is also an accused in two other criminal cases, which are being investigated by the Special Investigation Team and the Moghulpura police.
